The self - loading hunting carbine KO-40 is made by modifying the used 7.62 automatic rifle of 1940 as per criminalistic demands of Ministry of Home Affairs, the RF.
The carbine is intended for amateur and professional big game hunting.
A 7.62x54R hunting cartridge is used for shooting.
The best shooting results are achieved at the distance of up to 400 m.
Cartridges are fed from a detachable box magazine.
The carbine reloading is carried out automatically with the help of the energy of powder gases which passes off from the barrel bore to the gas cylinder.
The locking of barrel bore is carried out with warpage of the bolt body when its rear cut comes in the stop in the barrel receiver.
The firing- and trigger mechanism allows making single shots only.
The carbine is equipped with the gas regulator, which allows to change the gas quantity, passing off from the barrel bore so the reliable work of the carbine in any conditions is guaranteed.
The firing- and trigger mechanism is equipped with safety to avoid shooting at accidental trigger pull.
